2010 Mental Health Laws

ACRM successfully amended Alabama’s mental health laws, protecting consumer choice and recovery services.

2020 Tianeptine Banned

ACRM successfully worked with the Alabama Department of Public Health to protect consumers from Tianeptine, an unregulated, addictive supplement with dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

2016 Kratom Scheduled

ACRM successfully passed a consumer protection bill scheduling Kratom via the Alabama legislature to respond to predatory supplement industry practices that threaten recovery communities.

2021 Phenibut Scheduled

ACRM successfully helped send a bill to the Governor's office scheduling Tianeptine and Phenibut, two illegally imported European pharmaceuticals that act like opioids and benzodiazepines.

ACRM strongly encourages consumers to research and make informed decisions that best meet their needs.

The Association recognizes the need for choices for those on the path to recovery. The faith-based community offers a wide variety of services ranging from emergency housing, counseling, short-term residential programs, long-term residential programs, recovery aftercare housing, prison re-entry, transitional housing, and much more.
